A Supermarine Spitfire LF.IXe experienced an engine failure and crashed in a field off Langrick Road, Coningsby, Lincolnshire, shortly after takeoff from RAF Coningsby (QCY/EGXC).
The pilot perished and the aircraft flipped over and was destroyed.
